About the Rosenbauers
As missionaries with SIM the Rosenbauers are working at Lily of the Valley Children’s Village in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. The country of South Africa; like the rest of sub-Saharan Africa; has lost millions of its sons and daughters to AIDS. KwaZulu-Natal has the highest HIV and AIDS rates in South Africa, with more than 15% of the total population being HIV+.
In Africa, HIV and AIDS are somewhat more prevalent among women than men; 38.7% of expectant mothers in KwaZulu-Natal are HIV+ and the virus is often passed on to children at birth.[*] Lily of the Valley Children’s Village is a home for children who have been impacted in some way by HIV and AIDS. Most of the children there are either HIV+ themselves, or were orphaned by AIDS. Our role will be as house parents; caring for, nurturing, and teaching children about the love of their creator and savior, Jesus Christ.
