You Are God and I Am Not – Matthew 6:10 & Romans 9:16-21
Confessing (proclaiming) the truths of scripture is a powerful weapon in the arsenal of prayer. In Matthew 6:10 Jesus teaches His disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done.” Why? Does God need us to pray this to make it happen? No! Scripture makes it real clear (see Romans 9:16-21) that God is God, He is Sovereign, His will, will be done. Our praying this prayer, confessing this truth doesn’t help God, but it will change us.
He is GOD and we are NOT, He is the Potter and we are the clay. Sometimes we get this backwards. Sometimes are prayers sound more like we are God and he is our servant. What a crazy burden this backwards thinking lays upon us. We were never intended to carry that kind of load.
What in your life are you struggling to control today? Whatever it is, lay it down. Confess, “You are God and I am not.” Ask for forgiveness for playing God. Trust God to do what only He can do.
When you finish praying write down here what the Lord is teaching you:
